Telegram limits are official restrictions on various actions within the messaging app. For many new users, they can be a real problem. Almost every Telegram update slightly increases these limits, but they’re still there.
Here are the current Telegram limits as of today:
Main limits:
- Number of members in a regular group — 200 people
- Number of members in a supergroup: 200,000
- Maximum file size: 1.5 GB
- Number of pinned chats, channels, and bots: 5
- Message sending limit (anti-spam) per account — 49 messages
- Number of public channels with an @-mention per account: 10
- Number of bots that can be created via BotFather: 20
- Length of a public link (@username): 5 to 32 characters
Invitation limits:
- Inviting people to a channel — 200 people (this is a channel limit, not an account limit!)
Important: If the channel already has 180 subscribers, you can invite only 20 people.
- Inviting people to a supergroup — 200,000 people (but no more than 50 people from a single account)
Other important restrictions:
- Total number of chats, groups, supergroups, and channels per account — 500
- The number of participants a channel/supergroup admin can see is 200
- Maximum number of characters in a single message: 500
- Maximum post length on Telegra.ph: up to 32,798 characters
Blocking limits:
- Blocking for spam (prohibition on sending messages)—from 48 hours to permanent
